Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Hazardous Conditions)

Today, Monday January 19, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the hazardous campus conditions. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Updates will be posted on www.acadiau.ca and pre-recorded on Acadia’s Information Line: 902-585-4636 (585-INFO) and on 585 phone system voicemail. If you need emergency-related information, please contact the Department of Safety and Security by dialing 88 on all 585-phone systems, or by calling 902-585-1103.

Transcript Transfer: Outgoing Acadia students are advised to contact Registry@qmu.ac.uk once their transcript has been released at the end of their exchange, and request a copy of their transcript be sent to Acadia's Registrar's Office (regis@acadiau.ca).
Credit Conversion: 1 Acadia credit is equal to 4 SCOTCAT credits (60 per semester equally about 3 modules)

Do I require a visa?

Yes. Students attending QMU should refer to the Standard Visitor program (www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa) and Student Visa (www.gov.uk/student-visa) for more information.

Canadian passport holders staying for less than six months should apply for an ETA in advance of travelling to the UK. Students who do not hold a Canadian passport should check if the following reference to determine whether they need to apply for a ETA or Visitor Visa (https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa). Students studying in the UK longer than one semester will need a Student Visa.
